Ernst Loosen and Bob Bertheau from Chateau Ste. Michelle collaborated closely to assess suitable locations, oversee irrigation management, and vine canopy management. The two experts evaluated numerous plots and ultimately selected three vineyards that best expressed their unique characteristics for the blend: the Evergreen Vineyard, which contributes crisp lime and peach flavors; the Viewcrest Vineyard in the cool climate Yakima Valley, which provides enchanting acidity and a mineral edge; and the Lawrence Vineyard. To maintain the concentrated fruit flavors of the varieties, harvesting is done only during the coldest hours of the night/morning. The use of yeasts that enhance fruity aromas, combined with low-temperature fermentation, along with delayed processing times, allows for the development of more complex flavors.
