The name Love Over Gold comes from this spectacular property as the vineyards have been lovingly planted over historic goldfields in Eden Valley. Founded in 2014 by Michael Twelftree, (Founder and Winemaker of Two Hands Wines), Pierre-Henri Morel (General Manager of Two Hands Wines), Joel Mattschoss (5th generation Barossa grower and has farmed this property for many years), and Tim Hower (the man behind the scenes making things happen).
Love Over Gold is located on Mengler’s Hills on the edge of the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Consisting of 53 hectares of natural splendor, the property rises from 465m to 545 m above sea level. The soils are 490-555 million years old, with bedrocks of metamorphosed schists, greywackes, gneisses, siltstone, and shale. The topsoil is shallow, skeletal grey sandy loam mixed with ironstone and quartz.
