Marc Josten — Ahr & Mittelrhein, Germany

Named wein.plus Discovery of the Year 2024/25, Marc Josten is one of Germany's most exciting rising talents — a winemaker of rare conviction whose wines have quietly earned the attention of critics and collectors worldwide. Operating across two of Germany's most storied yet undersung regions, his vineyards span the volcanic slate slopes of Mayschoss on the Ahr and the vertiginous riverside terraces of Leutesdorf in the Mittelrhein.

From the prized Mönchberg Grand Cru, he crafts hauntingly elegant Pinot Noirs that rival Burgundy in depth and precision. His Sauvignon Blancs — particularly the Gartenlay — are benchmark expressions ranked among Europe's finest. Every vine is hand-tended, every parcel vinified separately, every wine bottled with minimal intervention under the motto Sua Sponte — "by one's own strength and drive."

Production is deliberately small. We are proud to offer a carefully curated allocation from this exceptional estate.
