Born in Namibia and raised in South Africa, Carsten Migliarina’s passion for wine began at the age of 14 when he experimented with fermenting table grapes. This early curiosity blossomed into a distinguished career, starting with a decade in the catering industry as a sommelier at prestigious establishments like *Le Pont de la Tour* in London and *Grande Roche* in Paarl. Eager to deepen his expertise, Carsten honed his winemaking skills as a contract winemaker across South Africa, Germany, and Romania before embarking on his own winemaking journey.
One of his most fascinating experiences took him to China, where he participated in the Ningxia Wine Challenge in 2015, further enriching his global perspective on winemaking. Today, Carsten is the visionary behind Migliarina Wines, crafting elegant, complex, and fruit-driven wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Cape. Each wine is meticulously handcrafted from some of the region’s finest vineyards, with a focus on preserving varietal character and fruit purity. In the cellar, Carsten adopts a minimalist approach, emphasizing simplicity and minimal intervention to let the grapes speak for themselves.
