Savage is one of South Africa's fastest-rising names. Winemaker Duncan Savage spent 14 years at Cape Point Vineyards before launching his own label in 2011, and now makes fresh, precise, low-intervention wines. Their signature is elegance over power: grapes come from cool coastal and high-altitude vineyards, giving wines a savoury, salty freshness. Grapes ferment naturally, then age in large, older oak barrels, concrete eggs and clay jars, for texture without heavy oak.
The awards are piling up. In James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of South Africa 2025, Savage White 2024 ranked No. 7 and Girl Next Door Syrah ranked No. 45. Thief In The Night Grenache won 96 points from Tim Atkin MW, and Never Been Asked To Dance Chenin Blanc scored 95 from the Wine Advocate.
