The Hometown OVC is a single-vineyard Old Bush-vine Chenin Blanc from Wellington, one of the Western Cape's historic wine regions, where warm climates and moderate rainfall create ideal conditions for terroir-driven Chenin Blanc. Sourced from 45-year-old vines (planted in 1979) in our estate vineyard, this wine reflects its unique duplex soil—blending quartz for crisp minerality and iron-rich "Koffieklip" (Ferricrete) for structured depth. Originally labeled as W.O. Wellington Old Vine Chenin, we rebranded to HOMETOWN OVC to honor our roots after settling here in 2015. Hand-harvested at multiple ripeness levels, it achieves a perfect harmony of ripe stone fruit richness and vibrant acidity, positioning it as the balanced middle of our OVC range. A standout expression of South African Chenin Blanc, this wine pairs beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, or aged cheeses—ideal for collectors seeking authentic, old-vine character.
