Keenan's 2019 Merlot is 87% estate fruit from vines above the fog line on Spring Mountain, with 13% from Carneros to complete the Napa Valley wine. Warm nights and steep, gravelly slopes stress the vines, concentrating the fruit. Eighteen months in French and American oak, 33% new, precede bottling.
James Suckling scored it 92 points: "A soft and juicy red with plum, tile and blackberry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and juicy with a black-olive undertone."
