From the iconic Peter Michael Winery in Knights Valley, the 2022 Belle Côte Chardonnay is a masterclass in balance, showcasing the purity of old-vine fruit and meticulous winemaking. Sourced from the estate’s oldest vines (planted 1990), this limited-production Chardonnay (only 1,781 cases made) dazzles with energy and depth.
Tasting Notes:
· Aroma: Vibrant grapefruit, yellow apple, and lemon meringue, lifted by lime blossom, coriander seed, and wet stone minerality
· Palate: Medium to full-bodied with a silky texture, layered citrus and orchard fruits, and razor-sharp acidity
· Finish: Zesty, long, and refreshing—a hallmark of cool, extended ripening
· Vineyard & Winemaking:
· Vine Age: 32-year-old vines (estate’s oldest Chardonnay block)
· Terroir: East-facing slope, late harvest (Sept 1 – Oct 4) for optimal ripeness
